The Urban Waterbuffer makes the Zorrilla soccer stadium in Valladolid climate resilient.
The city of Valladolid, like many other cities in Spain, is vulnerable to the effects of drought and heavy rainfall. This entails many negative consequences, such as a higher risk of flood damage, higher maintenance costs and impacts on ecosystems. A circular water system will soon be built here to meet these challenges. “Thanks to this new rainwater reuse project, Valladolid will become a groundbreaking and innovative example for sustainable urban water management in Spain.” (Text in Dutch)
Three years of research into the Urban Waterbuffer positively concluded
Research has shown that the Urban Waterbuffer makes cities climate-proof. Together with various knowledge institutes, engineering firms, contractors, suppliers and end users, we have tested an innovation for underground water storage in urban areas (text in Dutch)
Started as a graduate and now we’re here: meet Pim!
Why did you choose FF as your graduation company?
Water re-use, sustainability and the urban environment gets me very excited. With my background a water management student, FF was the perfect graduation company. Also, the first encounter was very spontaneous and it immediately felt as a warm and enthusiastic team.
A climate resilient square on TGV
Heath and drought: important subjects we need to take action on. Are you looking for a way to make your project climate resilient? As a visitor of The Green Village, soon you’ll walk around on their ‘‘Heatsquare’’: a place where three concrete climate adaptive solutions and innovations are demonstrated. They all aim to make cities more resistant to the consequences of rises in temperature which in turn reduces the risk of heat stress. We will be testing our newest biofilter here. To be continued!
Selected!
As a multidisciplinary team, together with VE-R, Vast Architecten and Move Mobility, we are selected as one of three teams for the Panorama Lokaal design-contest for the location of Schalkwijk in Haarlem (NL). Together we will develop a vision to make this vulnerable neighbourhood future-proof. Liveability, population density, and the transition towards a sustainable society are key elements in this process.
Infra Relatiedagen
On Thursday 6 February, together with Struyk Verwo, we will be at the Infra Relatiedagen in Hardenberg - the largest trade fair for infrastructure professionals in the east of the country. Which climate-proof solution best suits your project? You can find us in hall 5, booth 513.
