Meet our new Water Process Engineer, Hamid!

Portret of Hamid Mojab, process engineer at FieldFactors

Welcome to the team, Hamid!

Can you tell us a bit about your background?
I am a civil engineer specialising in water treatment systems. I come from Shiraz, a city in Iran famous for its wine, gardens and poets. 4 years ago I came to the Netherlands to study my masters in Environmental Science and Technology at IHE-Delft Institute for Water Education . Later on, I obtained a PDEng degree in Sanitary Engineering at Delft University of Technology.

Why did you pick the Netherlands for your masters?
It’s known for technological development and skill when it comes to water engineering. It’s home to most of the inventions and creative solutions used to tackle any water related issues.

Anything in particular that inspires you?
Yes, I am inspired to best understand how to use nature-based solutions to manage flooding during extreme weather conditions, but also wastewater treatment and the reuse of water. I believe prevention is always better than security. If we manage water in a better way, we can already prevent a lot of flooding events, while at the same time providing an alternative source of water. That is why I believe in more decentralised water systems, particularly in urban areas.

Is that what led you to Field Factors?
Yes, because Field Factors is one of the frontiers for developing solutions for managing urban water systems. Field Factors provides decentralisation of the urban water system through their effective solution and give an alternative source of water and simultaneously offer a way to prevent sewer overflows in urban areas.

What do you do when you come home after a busy day of work?
First thing I like to do is go out for sport. You can find me kickboxing or bouldering (rock climbing) in the gym. On my free rest days, I wander around in the world of astrophysics and politics.

What will you do at Field Factors?
I will be the water process engineer. I will focus on the design and engineering of the Bluebloqs system.
