Karina in the spotlight during the trade mission to Madrid

Karina (CEO FieldFactors) in the spotlight on the Dutch trade mission water to Madrid

This week we participated in the Trade Mission Water in Spain, organised by RVO and the Dutch Embassy in Spain. Karina joined the mission and had the opportunity to share our experiences working in Spain, showcase our project in Madrid and establish new relationships. We asked her to tell us more!

Why did you join this trade mission?

We have been working in Spain since 2019. This mission provided us the opportunity to establish new contacts, showcase our work and build new relationships.

What made you choose the Spanish market?

Spain is facing big challenges regarding water management. Long droughts put in risk the water supply for many urban uses. In Spain, it doesn't rain as much as in NL, but when it does, they face intense showers. So the cities are vulnerable to overflow of the sewer system. There's a big potential for rainwater reuse. Also, having studied in Spain, I am familiar with culture, know the language and have local partners.

What lessons did you learn during the trade mission?

We gathered insights in the needs of the water sector in Spain, how we can collaborate with public organisations and how our solutions can be of value for their local challenges.

Any other things you would like to share?

I am very proud to be working with the City of Madrid on the first application of rainwater reuse in public space in the city!

Are you interested in circular water systems, in Spain or elsewhere? Or would you like to ask Karina about the trade mission?
