Internship: Landscape Architecture

Hi! We are FieldFactors. We are a Delft-based start-up in water technology. With a growing team, we are committed to making cities resilient to climate change. We achieve this by designing and implementing systems for rainwater treatment, storage, and reuse. To support our efforts, we are looking for a talented Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering, or Bioscience intern to help develop innovative solutions for sustainable urban water management.

 
 

Level: Master’s student (Graduation project possible)

Working hours: 32 – 36h/week

Duration: 4 – 6 months

About the internship


Our projects combine rainwater harvesting, water treatment and storage, with landscape architecture and functional urban design to create circular water solutions and urban spaces for people to enjoy.

We are looking for a landscape architecure intern to support us with the development of new spatial integrations of our technology for urban rainwater management and green city solutions. More specifically, you will assist on a project focused on creating an attractive, cascading biofilter to strengthen the spatial integration of our technology for aquifer replenishment to be implemented in an urban park.

You will be responsible for the technical design and/or artistic rendering of different aesthetic and functional concepts for this new integration.

Your activities will include:

  • Concept development for a spatially integrated cascading biofilter

  • Elaboration of a technical design for the most promising concept

  • Piping and installation design

  • Preparation of custom treatment train

  • Hydraulic design of the urban drainage intervention

  • Graphic rendering of proposed solutions

What you need to be successful:

  • Active enrolment as a student in higher education

  • An educational background in a technical, design-oriented field, e.g. architecture, product design, civil engineering, bioscience, or water technology.

  • Basic knowledge of hydraulics, and sustainable urban drainage (SUDs) are required

  • Competency in CAD or other 3D graphics programs, and knowledge of Infoworks ICM would be a big plus

  • Additional knowledge of wetland ecology, plant biology, and water chemistry or treatment would be beneficial

  • An interest in gaining working experience in a multidisciplinary en multicultural team

  • Proficiency in English, and/or Dutch

  • Eagerness to learn and develop

  • An internship position for 32 - 40 hours/week
