Internship opportunity: Redesign of an urban biofiltration system.
Retention and reuse of stormwater in urban areas are key concepts for climate proof cities. Field Factors develops solutions to store stormwater surpluses locally for later use, such as irrigation of sport fields and parks, replenishment of groundwater or reduction of heat stress. Our Bluebloqs biofiltration system enables water quality in such a decentralised water system and has been designed as a modular, turnkey solution.
The first Bluebloqs biofiltration system has been build near the Sparta stadium in Rotterdam in June 2018. After half a year of operation, we have identified factors for optimisation of the system in order to upscale for mass production. We would like to work together with you on this challenge.
Optimising the system to function in public space, taking into account water metrics such as flow control, use and interaction, environmental influences, maintenance, etc.
Redesign the structural components of the system.
Review production techniques and materials for upscaling to mass production.
are an IO/IPO student;
have affinity with design for sustainable cities, infrastructure and public space;
have a technical approach, a hands-on mentality and experience with rapid prototyping;
are fluent in English and /or Dutch;
are available at least 4 days per week, starting from March 2019.
